LAW ENFORCEMENT TORCH RUN

FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Each year the Bridgton Police Department is involved with law enforcement officers from all parts of Maine in running a series of relay races called the Law Enforcement Torch Run. The purpose of this event is to raise money for Special Olympics Maine, a private, non-profit organization. The organization is part of a year round international program of sports training and athletic competition for children and adults who are mentally challenged. Law Enforcement has dedicated itself towards increasing awareness and funds for Special Olympics athletes worldwide.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics is a worldwide program sponsored by the International Association of Chiefs of Police. Events such as these help bring recognition to the skills and abilities of the Special Olympics athletes. The participation of these athletes shows the community at large the true meaning of sport, and a pure joy towards life.

The Torch Run is scheduled for Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 8:00am .

The public is welcome to join in the fun by cheering on the athletes and officers that morning.

Bridgton Alliance and BPD Chaplain Pastor Zullo will be stationed at the Norway Saving Bank parking lot with snacks and refreshments. Please stop by, meet an athlete, and be a part of this great community event.

On behalf of Law Enforcement Torch Run and the Bridgton Police Department, I would like to thank you for your continued support of this most worthy cause.

Sgt. Phillip A. Jones Bridgton Police Dept. Torch Run Leg Leader ME LETR Executive Council.
