Municipal Tax-Acquired Property Sales Notice

Below you will find the list of properties included in the upcoming sale. Sealed Bids are due Tuesday, September 14th, 2021. Click on the individual property names to access the bid package.

In accordance with MRS Title 36, §943 and the Town of Bridgton Policy on Disposition of Tax Acquired Properties, a sealed bid for the purchase of the Town’s interest in the above listed tax-acquired properties, will take place at the Bridgton Municipal Complex, 3 Chase Street, Suite 1, Bridgton, ME 04009 on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at 2:00 p.m.

Terms: The properties will be sold by sealed bid, as-is, where-is, with no warranties or guarantees of any kind. Minimum Bid Requirements and Security Deposits do apply. Conveyance of the property will be by Municipal Quitclaim Deed.

Maine Department of Environmental Protection – Air Quality Notice

Smoke from wildfires will affect air quality in Maine on Monday and Tuesday

AUGUSTA, July 26, 2021 — Particle pollution concentrations have begun to rise in the Western Mountains region several hours earlier than expected on Monday, July 26th according to the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP.  This is due to smoke from fires in central & western Canada as well the western US moving into the region and reaching the ground.  Levels in Maine are expected to continue rising through the day from Northwest to Southeast.  We expect that particle pollution levels will remain high overnight and through much of Tuesday.   Levels are expected to clear out Tuesday evening.

The standard for particle pollution is a 24-hour average and we believe that the average beginning midday on Monday through Tuesday afternoon and possibly into the early evening hours will reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range on the Air Quality Index for Maine.  Northern areas are expected to clean out first on Tuesday while the remainder of the state is not likely to see cleaner air until evening.

At elevated particle pollution levels, children, healthy adults who exert themselves, and individuals suffering from a respiratory disease such as asthma, bronchitis or COPD can experience reduced lung function and irritation.  When this happens, individuals may notice a shortness of breath, coughing, throat irritation, and/or experience an uncomfortable sensation in their chest.  Additionally, those with a heart disease should also follow these recommendations.

Some actions you can take to protect your health during periods of unhealthy air quality include:

• Avoid strenuous outdoor activity.
• If you are indoors, close windows and circulate indoor air with a fan or air conditioner.

In the areas where the water and sewer work is being done, the road will not be paved until both water and sewer work is completed.

PUBLIC NOTICE

On Thursday, July 22, 2021, beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the Bridgton Town Office, 10 Iredale Street, Bridgton, Maine, there will be a legal training for the Board of Selectman, Planning Board, and Appeals Board, which may also include support staff. Although there will be a quorum of members present representing each Board, no official business will be conducted.

Members of the public may observe, but may not participate, in this Annual Board Training.

The Bridgton Police Department has issued a Silver Alert for 81-year-old Frank Mollins of Bridgton, who was last seen on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at approximately 8pm on S High Street in Bridgton. He was driving a black 2011 Chevy Malibu, Maine Veteran plate 33375.  Mollins, who has dementia, is a white male, 5’8”, 160 lbs. with white hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing blue Dickie work pants and a long sleeve shirt. Mollins may travel to Long Island, NY or Moultonborough, NH where he used to have family. Mollins does currently have family in Presque Isle but it is not clear where he was heading when he left his home Tuesday night.

Please join the Bridgton Select Board and Planning Board for a workshop on July 20th at 5 pm. We will review the new Bridgton Consolidated Use Code. This proposed ordinance combines five land use ordinances into one, to reduce redundancy and conflicts between ordinances and create a document that is easy to use for the applicant, whether a small business owner, homeowner, or a major developer. 

The workshop will be held at 5 pm July 20 at the Town offices (lower level).

Now that the state of Maine has lifted capacity limits and physical distancing requirements for public indoor and outdoor gatherings, our bi-weekly Selectboard Meetings will return to in-person participation for all meetings after July 31st.  

Maine no longer requires masks in most settings. U.S. CDC guidance recommends people age 5 and older wear masks at indoor public settings until they are fully vaccinated.

BRIDGTON COOLING SHELTER

HAZY, HOT AND HUMID!!  With the forecast in the high 90’s and high humidity a cooling center has been set up today, Monday, June 28, 2021 and tomorrow, Tuesday, June 29, 2021 beginning at 9:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. at the Bridgton Community Center, 15 Depot Street, Bridgton for people to take refuge from the heat.     For additional information, please call 207-647-3116.

Missing Person

Bridgton

77- year old man with dementia wearing black sweatpants and black shoes. He left on foot from his assisted living facility and he is very unsteady on his feet. His name is Clarence Taylor. If you see him please call 207-893-2810 ext 2 immediately.

The Municipal Office, Public Works, and Transfer station will be closed from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday June 22nd, for our annual staff wellness luncheon.
