Daily Construction Update for Monday, September 16, 2019

On Monday, construction crews continued installing drainage on the west side of BHOP and paved additional trenches that were excavated for installation of the drainage.

Starting, today, Tuesday, September 17, 2019, construction crews will begin installing new curbing and sidewalks beginning at the intersection with Highland Street and working their way east.

On Friday, construction crews continued installing drainage along the northern side of the street, east of BHOP down towards the traffic signal. Additional drainage work will be completed on the west side of BHOP on Monday. The contractor also paved around several of the new catch basins on Friday and will continue paving on Monday.

Daily Construction Update for Thursday, September 12, 2019

On Thursday, construction crews began installing drainage along the northern curb east of BHOP down towards the traffic signal. That work will continue on Friday and will require temporary closure of the on-street parking along this stretch of curb. That will complete the majority of the drainage construction.

The contractor is planning on paving around the new catch basins on Friday.

Daily Construction Update for Tuesday, September 11, 2019

A new catch basin was installed Wednesday at the intersection with Chase Street. Additional construction crews installed frames and grates on all the catch basins that have been installed so far. Thursday, crews will be installing a new catch basin at the entrance to the Town parking lot just west of the Bridgton House of Pizza (BHOP). Please anticipate that this entrance into the parking lot may be closed during this construction. You can still access the parking lot via the Key Bank driveway or the entrance to the Municipal lot off Chase Street.

If time permits, they will also begin installing drainage along the northern curb east of BHOP down towards the traffic signal. This will require temporary closure of the on-street parking along this stretch of curb. That will complete the majority of the drainage construction.

One new catch basin and a drain manhole were installed today as part of the storm drainage system upgrades across the street from the Rufus Porter museum

Next week there will be storm drain construction in front of the Ruby Food restaurant and the Magic Lantern. The sidewalks and a few parking spaces will be closed in both of these areas during the construction, but will reopen at the end of the day. Temporary paving will go down on the areas of the road that were dug up.

The contractor will continue to install storm drainage upgrades throughout Main Street next week. We will continue to update as the work progresses and we learn more about the detailed schedule.

Daily Construction Update for Thursday, September 5, 2019

Two new catch basins and a drain manhole were installed Thursday as part of the storm drainage system upgrades at the intersection with Church Street and at the intersection with Depot Street by the Magic Lantern. On Friday, some additional drainage structures will be installed in the sidewalk along the park across the street from the Rufus Porter museum and also in front of the Ruby Food restaurant. The sidewalks and a few parking spaces (by Ruby Food) will be closed in both of these areas during the construction, but will reopen at the end of the day. The contractor is also hoping to pave the road in a few spots where it has been dug up to install drainage this week.

The contractor will continue to install storm drainage upgrades throughout Main Street next week. The exact locations of where the work will happen on each day is a little tricky to forecast but we will continue to update as the work progresses and we learn more.

The Streetscape contractor installed a couple new catch basins as part of the storm drainage system upgrades yesterday (Tuesday) near the intersection with Highland Street and at the intersection with Cottage Street. On Wednesday, additional catch basins will be installed in front of the library and the Magic Lantern. The contractor will continue to install storm drainage upgrades throughout Main Street for the remainder of this week and next week. The exact locations of where the work will happen on each day is a little tricky to forecast but we will continue to update as the work progresses and we learn more.

The Municipal Office and Transfer Station will close at 12PM on Thursday, September 19th for employee safety training.

The Municipal Office will be open regular hours, 8AM – 4PM on Wednesday, September 18th and Friday, September 20th.

The Transfer Station will be open regular hours, 7AM – 5PM, on Tuesday, September 17th and Saturday, September 21st.

Main Street improvement project set to begin in Bridgton

BRIDGTON — Renovations to Bridgton’s streetscape will begin Tuesday with work being
done to the storm drain system.

Construction will “bounce around a little bit throughout the first weeks,” said Colin Dinsmore
of HEB Engineers, the project’s engineer.

“There’s little pockets where (underground utility work) is going to occur throughout the
whole project area,” he said.

Crews are in town this week prepping for the start of construction on Tuesday, September 3rd.  Streetscape construction is slated to begin at the top of Main Hill and progress down hill.  Wastewater infrastructure improvements are expected to begin in late September.  Exact locations of ongoing work will be determined by overall progress of both projects.

J Pratt Construction will begin mobilizing equipment the week of August 26th for the start of the Streetscape project. Construction begins Tuesday, September 3, 2019.

WASTEWATER COLLECTION SYSTEM UPGRADES

 

The Town of Bridgton, ME will receive separate sealed Bids for the expansion of their existing sanitary wastewater collection system along Main Street. The work consists of installation and testing of collection system gravity and force main piping, manhole structures and lateral connections.

A non-mandatory pre-bid conference will be held at the Owner’s Office, 3 Chase St, Suite 1, Bridgton, ME Attention: Robert A. Peabody, Jr., at 10:00AM on Tuesday, August 13, 2019.

Bids will be received until 1:00PM local time on Thursday, August 22, 2019, at which time the Bids received will be publicly opened and read at the Owner’s Office.

The Contract Documents may be examined, and copies may be obtained at the Issuing Office, Woodard & Curran, Inc., 51 Hutchins Dr., Portland, ME 04102 starting on Monday, July 29, 2019. An electronic copy of the Contract Documents is also available from the Issuing Office at no charge. COMMUNITY COOLING CENTER – TUES, JULY 30

HAZY, HOT AND HUMID!! With the forecast in the high 90’s with high humidity for the next several days cooling centers have been set up today, July 30, 2019 at the Bridgton Community Center, 15 Depot Street, Bridgton (647-3116) until 5:00p.m. and at the Bridgton Hospital lobby, 25 Hospital Drive, Bridgton (647-6000) until 9:00p.m. for people to take refuge from the heat.
