Notice of the Public Hearing – March 22

TOWN OF BRIDGTON NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The Municipal Officers of the Town of Bridgton will hold a Public Hearing at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, March 22, 2022 on the Community Development Advisory Committee recommendations to the Selectboard for funding of 2022-2023 Community Development Block Grant applications. The applications are available to view here, and copies will be posted at the Town Office. The meeting will be held in person and remote access will be provided. Information on how to participate remotely will be published at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting. Join the Comprehensive Plan Update Task Force

JOIN THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE TASK FORCE

It is time for the Town of Bridgton to update the 2014 Comprehensive Plan. The Community Development Department is calling for community members to join a task force that will create a resilient, sustainable, and equitable 2024 comprehensive plan that will guide us through the next ten years. For more information on the process, please review the Maine State Planning Office’s Comprehensive Planning: A Manual for Maine Communities.

 If you’re interested in taking part in this important task over the next two years, please fill out this form.

Rabies Positive Animal Confirmed

Maine’s Health and Environmental Testing Laboratory confirmed that a raccoon from our town tested positive for rabies. Rabies is common in wild animals in Maine. Make sure to never touch an animal that is wild or unknown to you. You should also make sure your animals are up to date on rabies vaccine. SFY 2022 Small Community Grant Program Funding Requests

The Department is now accepting applications for SCG program funding requests to correct malfunctioning septic systems which directly or indirectly discharge sewage to waterbodies of the State or are causing public health problems. The SCG Application must be submitted by February 18, 2022, before 5pm.

With the 130th Maine Legislature’s approval of Governor Mills’ The Maine Jobs & Recovery Plan, one-time funding in the amount of $3,000,000 has been allocated to the Small Community Grant program, administered by the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). This funding was provided by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 to be used toward State Fiscal Recovery. In 2022, $1,000,000 is available for Municipalities to apply for projects, and the remaining funds will be released in 2023.

The Municipality must submit the Grant Application, to determine initially if the Owner(s) qualifies for grant funds by providing the following information:

  1. Applicant Information form
  2. Application Description of Existing Conditions Form
    1. Tax Assessors Card for the property
    2. Copy of the most recent Federal Income Tax Return for all owners (individuals or entities) associated with property
  1. Do not include IRS attachments unless specifically requested by the Department. Black out social security and bank account numbers.
  2. In cases where a Federal Income Tax return is not filed, the owner must provide alternative documentation to the applicant for review and approval by the Department.

Warming Center – Bridgton Community Center

Warming Center at Bridgton Community Center

A warming center has been set up at the Bridgton Community Center, 15 Depot Street, Bridgton, beginning Tuesday, January 11, 2022  through Wednesday, January 14, 2022 opening at 9:00a.m. and closing at 5:00p.m., for people to take refuge from the cold.

Town of Bridgton – Recreation Department Summer Programs (Seasonal)

The Town of Bridgton, Maine Recreation Department is currently accepting applications for the following summer seasonal positions:
•  Lifeguard (Highland Lake, Woods Pond, Salmon Point) {Contingent on Approval}
Applicants must be certified through the American Red Cross Lifeguard/Waterfront certified or become certified before June 15, 2021. Seasonal Full-Time, must be able to work from June 22, 2022 through August 13, 2022.
•  Water Safety Instructors (Swim Lessons)
Applicants must be certified through the American Red Cross Water Safety Certification program or become certified before June 15, 2021. Seasonal Full-Time, must be able to work from June 22, 2022 through August 13, 2022
•  Youth Development Professionals (Summer Rec & Teen Summer Rec)
Applicants must be at least 16 years old and have desire to work with teens and/or elementary children. Seasonal Full-Time, must be able to work from June 22, 2022 through August 13, 2022.

◊  As previously published on this page, just a reminder that from November 15th to April 15th, no vehicle shall be parked on the public street or way, from 11pm to 7am, per the Bridgton Traffic Ordinance.

◊ As per MRSA 17A Section 505 and MRSA 29A Section 2396, no person(s) shall plow, shovel, or otherwise deposit snow, into the limits of any traveled public way.

◊ It is important to keep your driveways and private roads cleared and sanded, so that if the need arises, emergency personnel can safely access your property.

◊ Regarding weather events … please be aware that we post information on the Town’s Facebook page, the Town’s website, and all of the local television channels are notified, if and when, the Town Office is closed.

Public Hearing Notice – Ordinance Review Committee Remote Participation Policy

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The Ordinance Review Committee will hold a joint Public Hearing at 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 to accept oral and written comments on the proposed Ordinance Review Committee Remote Meeting Participation Policy, to continue to allow remote participation in Ordinance Review Committee meetings.

The new policy can be viewed HERE, and a copy will be posted at the Town office.

Information on how to participate in the meeting will be published at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting.

Any proposal received after the deadline stated above shall not be considered.

The Planning Board for the Town of Bridgton will hold a Public Hearing at 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday January 4, 2022. Public comments will be heard for the proposed Lakewood Commons Subdivision project located on Portland Road, known as Tax Map 10 Lots 10-1, 10-2, 10-3, 10-4, 8A and 58A

A copy of the proposed project can be viewed at the Town office by appointment. Agenda and instructions for Public Hearing will be posted at a later date on the Town website.

Reminder – Parking Ban in Effect

PUBLIC NOTICE

** November 15, 2021 – April 15, 2022**

* 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.*

During the timeframe noted above, no vehicle shall be parked on any public street or way from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.,

as per MRSA 29A Section 2068-2069 and the Bridgton Traffic Ordinance adopted January 10, 1995,

and amended August 27, 1996, and October 25, 2005.

Any vehicle violating this parking ban may be fined per the Town of Bridgton Fee Schedule or may be towed at the owner’s expense.

 

At any time, a town-wide parking ban may also be called for with notification.
