Construction Update for Monday, September 30, 2019

Sidewalk and curbing construction continues between Elm Street and Gibbs. Most of the areas that have been disturbed for curbing and storm drainage construction have been cleaned up and paved. The contractor will likely keep working down the north side of the road.

The sewer construction has begun at the west end of Main Street (Main Hill).

There will be brief closures of driveways as the conduit trench crosses each driveway but the contractor will work to ensure access is restored as quickly as possible. If any business or property owners have trouble accessing their buildings, please let us know so we can do whatever we can to address your concerns.

The engineering firm of Milone & Macbroom has been hired by the Town of Bridgton to design the Lower Main Street Reconstruction project. The Town of Bridgton and Milone & Macbroom have scheduled an informational neighborhood meeting to review the details and locations of required easements with the Town’s residents. Request for Bids-Old Town Hall Bathroom Renovations

REQUEST FOR BIDS

MANDATORY PRE-BID MEETING TUESDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2019 9:00 a.m.

BIDS DUE:  3:00 PM, Friday, October 18, 2019

Sealed Bids are being accepted for the Town of Bridgton, Old Town Hall Bathroom Renovations (the “Project”), which consists of obtaining competitive BIDS from responsible and responsive Contractors to;

It is the town’s intention to upgrade and renovate the existing Men’s and Women’s restrooms to include, but not limited to, new flooring, new toilets, new toilet partitions, new lighting, new ADA compliant entry doors, repair and repainting walls and ceilings, addition of lighting in hallways, addition of baby changing stations, installation of new exhaust ventilation and replacement of soap, paper towel and toilet paper dispensers. The existing Men’s room is approx. 10ft by 14ft, the Women’s room is approx. 21ft by 10ft. Work to include entry hall/foyer for each bathroom.

Complete written BIDS shall be submitted in sealed envelopes plainly marked, “Town of Bridgton, Old Town Hall Bathroom Renovations” to:

No significant updates on construction this week. Demolition of the existing sidewalk and new curb construction continues between Elm Street and Portland Road. The contractor will keep working down the north side of the road.

Daily Construction Update for Wednesday, September 25, 2019

No significant changes in construction schedule since the past few updates.

Sidewalk and curbing construction continues between Highland Street and Elm Street. Some additional paving is planned for Friday (9/27) in select areas where the pavement has been removed to install curbing and street light conduits.

Light pole bases should be installed towards the end of this week or early next week. The contractor is waiting on the arrival of some additional street light infrastructure components and as soon as those arrive they can begin pouring concrete for the sidewalks.

There will be brief closures of driveways as the conduit trench crosses each driveway but the contractor will work to ensure access is restored as quickly as possible.

Daily Construction Update for Tuesday, September 24, 2019

Sidewalk and curbing construction continues between Highland Street and Elm Street. The contractor has decided to continue with the sidewalk reconstruction on the north side of the road all the way down to Elm Street because several sections of the existing sidewalk have been dug up for the drainage installation. We would like to get those sections completed with the new sidewalk as soon as possible.

Today, Tuesday, September 17th, construction crews began work on the sidewalk and curb replacement beginning at the intersection with Highland Street and working their way east. They were able to remove sidewalks all the way down to Bacon Street and began installing the conduit that will eventually power the new street lights.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) they will continue with removing the existing sidewalks, select curbing and installing more conduits as they continue to work east towards the Stevens Brook bridge. There will be brief closures of driveways as the conduit trench crosses each driveway but the contractor will work to ensure access is restored as quickly as possible.

On Thursday, construction crews began installing drainage along the northern curb east of BHOP down towards the traffic signal. That work will continue on Friday and will require temporary closure of the on-street parking along this stretch of curb. That will complete the majority of the drainage construction.

The contractor is planning on paving around the new catch basins on Friday.

Daily Construction Update for Tuesday, September 11, 2019

A new catch basin was installed Wednesday at the intersection with Chase Street. Additional construction crews installed frames and grates on all the catch basins that have been installed so far. Thursday, crews will be installing a new catch basin at the entrance to the Town parking lot just west of the Bridgton House of Pizza (BHOP). Please anticipate that this entrance into the parking lot may be closed during this construction. You can still access the parking lot via the Key Bank driveway or the entrance to the Municipal lot off Chase Street.

If time permits, they will also begin installing drainage along the northern curb east of BHOP down towards the traffic signal. This will require temporary closure of the on-street parking along this stretch of curb. That will complete the majority of the drainage construction.

The contractor is planning on paving around the new catch basins on Friday.

One new catch basin and a drain manhole were installed today as part of the storm drainage system upgrades across the street from the Rufus Porter museum

Next week there will be storm drain construction in front of the Ruby Food restaurant and the Magic Lantern. The sidewalks and a few parking spaces will be closed in both of these areas during the construction, but will reopen at the end of the day. Temporary paving will go down on the areas of the road that were dug up.

The contractor will continue to install storm drainage upgrades throughout Main Street next week. We will continue to update as the work progresses and we learn more about the detailed schedule.

Daily Construction Update for Thursday, September 5, 2019

Two new catch basins and a drain manhole were installed Thursday as part of the storm drainage system upgrades at the intersection with Church Street and at the intersection with Depot Street by the Magic Lantern. On Friday, some additional drainage structures will be installed in the sidewalk along the park across the street from the Rufus Porter museum and also in front of the Ruby Food restaurant. The sidewalks and a few parking spaces (by Ruby Food) will be closed in both of these areas during the construction, but will reopen at the end of the day. The contractor is also hoping to pave the road in a few spots where it has been dug up to install drainage this week.

The contractor will continue to install storm drainage upgrades throughout Main Street next week. The exact locations of where the work will happen on each day is a little tricky to forecast but we will continue to update as the work progresses and we learn more.
